Local equities see another sharp rise after strong gains

The key equity barometers traded with slight gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23340-23194. Nifty Realty, Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma shares advanced.


NIFTY edged up 0.43% in last session and recorded sharp losses of 4.41% over last one-week.


At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest gains of 315.70 points or 0.42% to 74,652.15. The Nifty 50 index edged higher by 116.10 points or 0.50% to 23,333.70.


The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index climbed 1.04% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index gained 0.95%.


The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 3096 shares rose and 1691 shares fell. A total of 223 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Realty index gained 1.86% to 838. The index has lost 9.51% in last one month and fell 10.17% over last one year. DLF, inching higher 3%, led the gainers followed by Lodha Developers, adding 1.89% and Anant Raj, gaining 1.87%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty Auto index rallied 1.36% to 27258. The index has declined 7.83% in last one month and inched down 0.93% over last one year. Uno Minda, edging up 3.08%, led the gainers followed by Bharat Forge, up 2.61% and Samvardh. Mothe., inching higher 2.23%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Pharma index climbed 1.29% to 26483. The index has posted modest losses of 0.74% in last one month and registered sharp gains of 17.43% over last one year. Laurus Labs, inching higher 2.49%, led the gainers followed by Dr Reddy's Labs, gaining 2.48% and Aurobindo Pharma, inching higher 2.32%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 17 are reporting gains today.


Asian markets traded slightly lower on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is down 0.41%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.62%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is marginally higher by 0.33%.


In Europe, German DAX inched higher 0.69%, UK’s FTSE 100 moved up 0.28% and French CAC ticked up 0.62%.


In Commodities, MCX Gold drifted lower by 1.04% to trade at Rs 1,52,750 per 10 grams. MCX Crude oil lost 1.36% to trade at Rs 9,814 per barrel.
