Windfall gains tax on petrol, diesel, ATF exports hiked
(04-Aug-26 11:30)
The government has increased the windfall gains tax on exports of petrol, diesel, and ATF starting August 3. The special additional excise duty (SAED) on diesel exports is now Rs 25.5 per litre, up from Rs 15.5, while SAED on ATF has risen to Rs 22 per litre from Rs 14.5. The duty on petrol exports has been raised to Rs 3.5 per litre, from Rs 2.5. The finance ministry stated there is no change in duty rates for petrol and diesel meant for domestic use. This windfall tax aims to boost domestic fuel supply during the West Asia crisis and to prevent exporters from exploiting price differences.
